Cedar Point ∙ East Hampton, NY
It is not uncommon for us to head out east on the weekends. There are tons of pretty places to stop as you drive out. This was my second time visiting Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton but it was my first time taking the walk along the beach to the Cedar Island Light. I’m a big fan of lighthouses and was excited to get to see this one. Although it appeared to be in the process of a restoration, it was still beautiful. From what I have read, the lighthouse was built in 1868 and was deactivated in 1934. It was used to help navigate boats to and from Sag Harbor. It didn’t look much like a lighthouse I’m used to seeing due to the restoration in progress, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Out of all the places we have visited on the east end of Long Island, this was one of my favorites. Definitely looking forward to getting back there soon.
Also, if you’re into collecting shells, this place had tons! The entire beach was scattered with all shapes and sizes. We took a handful of beauties home with us that day.
