Minnewaska ∙ Gertrude’s Nose & Millbrook Mountain Trail

Since the weather was finally super nice this weekend we decided to drive up to Minnewaska State Park in Kerhonkson New York and spend the day in the mountains. We have been to Minnewaska before but this was our first time hiking the Gertrude’s Nose and Millbrook mountain trails. Prior to leaving we read some reviews online about the trails that said they are somewhat challenging and believe me those reviews were 100% correct! Between both trails combined, we hiked a total of 10 miles through the woods, tiptoeing through streams and climbing up and down various rock scrambles. Some parts of the trail came very close to the edge of the cliff, which made me a bit weak in the knees! Heights are not my favorite thing but luckily for me you could pass those parts quickly and continue on the pathway through the woods. Phew! Overall I’d say it was definitely a little more difficult than we expected but the views from the top of the mountain were so incredibly stunning that it made the journey worthwhile.

May your trails be crooked, winding, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.
