A very special place - Hobart, NY

This post is going to be a short and sweet one but it was definitely something I wanted to write about. Last month my boyfriend and I headed up to Hobart in Upstate New York to go camping at a very special place. This place is affectionally called “the property” and is a privately owned piece of land by a very close family friend. So I can’t technically recommended anybody to go visit but I can explain it to you! It is a simple set up, two large clearings surrounded by gorgeous trees and mountains and a few boulders here and there. There is no electricity, no running water, no heat, no AC, and no cell service. When you camp here…you CAMP here. This is real camping at its finest and I love it so much. Ever since I was a child my parents would take me up to the property every labor day weekend to go camping with all of their friends and their friends children (all around my age). We would make a caravan in the clearing with all of our campers, tents, pop-ups and have a GIANT fire pit in the middle. We would roam around, climb the rocks, watch the shooting stars at night by the fire, walk down the mountain to the creek and catch crayfish and frogs. These are some of my most treasured memories from growing up and memories I will never forget. For those who may read this and have been there…you know who you are and you know how special this place is not just for me but for all of us. I feel extremely grateful and lucky to be able to come back here as an adult and experience it. It still has the same magic and same beauty from when I was growing up and will always be a place I carry with me in my heart forever.
