My UpCircle Regiment
clean skincare
I’ve decided to branch out on my blog since I realized I had so many more things to share other than places I visit and travel, like beauty and fashion related stuff! Those things are equally as important to me as traveling and adventuring so I figured why not start sharing those things too! I wanted my first beauty/skincare blog to be about something I’ve really been loving, and that is …clean skincare! About a year and a half ago I really started doing research about the chemicals that are in our skincare, makeup, hair and bathing products and was completely mortified at what I found. So many things that we use on a daily basis are chock full of toxic chemicals that are approved and deemed as “safe” to use when in fact …they are NOT. After researching a lot, (and also using the EWG app) I decided to slowly replace all of my products that I was using on a daily basis, like skincare products (moisturizes, eye creams, serums, masks) and makeup with clean, non-toxic versions. I have since been able to replace almost all of my most used everyday products with clean versions and have not only noticed a huge difference in my skin overall but also noticed that a lot of the products that are clean and non-toxic ended up being cheaper than the other products I was using. So it has been a win win overall.
Face Cleansing Balm
I have SO many products to share and I will get to them all eventually in their own posts but I wanted to start off with a skincare brand I found called UpCircle. (This is no way a sponsored post what so ever, just absolutely love their products!) Anyway, I discovered them when they showed up in an instagram ad and I clicked on them right away after reading their description about being made from repurposed ingredients. I was a little skeptical at first because there are many companies that claim to be all natural and good for you and made from the best stuff ever yet still end up having some shady ingredients in them. However, after getting to their website and reading all about what they do I was so impressed. All of their products are made from by-products of other industries like the food and drink industries and are repurposed to make amazing natural, organic, vegan, cruelty free, sustainable products! They are a UK based company but are also sold in the US and I believe they are now available in Ulta, which is awesome! Another thing that I really love about this brand is that they are so reasonably priced. Often times skincare can be SO ridiculously expensive and I was so pleased to see that this brand was very reasonably priced and totally affordable.
The first product I purchased from them was their cleansing face balm and it is hands down my absolute favorite balm and I’ve repurchased several times since. Prior to using this, I was using one from Farmacy and was a little unhappy with some of the ingredients in it so I wanted to try something else and I am so happy I went with this one from UpCircle because it truly is the best. This balm is made from discarded apricot stones and has 100% natural, sustainable, vegan, ingredients. (Like all of their products) It doesn’t have an overly perfumed artificial scent (which I love) it just has a very subtle apricot citrusy smell and has such a lovely smooth texture that melts away my makeup and leaves my face feeling so soft afterwards. When using it I like to apply it to a dry face and remove it with a damp muslin cloth, that works the best for me and leaves my face feeling amazing, but you can just wash it off with warm water as well. After using the balm, I go in with a facial cleanser (from a different company that will have it’s own blog post because omg!) but the balm is perfect to melt away the initial makeup and impurities first before going in with the cleanser of your choice. As far as I know, UpCircle does not have a facial cleanser just yet, but if they do come out with one, I will be all over it.

After absolutely loving their balm, I knew I had to try other things and since I needed a new exfoliator and a new toner that’s exactly what caught my eye when I returned to their website. They have a coffee scrub for the face made from 100% reused and repurposed coffee grounds. They have three different versions of the scrub, citrus, floral and herbal. I have tried both the herbal and floral versions and they are both amazing. They literally smell like fresh coffee. If you don’t like the smell of coffee then this is definitely not for you but for most of us who can’t resist the smell of coffee…this is amazing. I use a dime-sized amount and lightly exfoliate my face (while damp) no more than once a week with this scrub and it leaves my face feeling SO soft. I absolutely love this product and how my skin feels after using it. It is also such a relief and makes me so happy knowing there are no harsh unnecessary ingredients in it that will harm me or the planet. They also have a coffee scrub for the body, I have yet to try that but it is definitely on my list.
Last but not least, the face toner ! This product is also amazing which is no surprise. It is made from residual water of mandarin juice and repurposed chamomile extract and is so soothing to the skin. I love to use it in the mornings before applying my serum and moisturizer because it helps me wake up. It has a nice subtle citrus scent which helps wake me up and soothes my skin. I highly recommend it along with all of the other products I mentioned from them. If you are like me and are constantly on the hunt for clean, natural, organic, nontoxic products I would absolutely recommend checking them out and giving them a try, I have a feeling you will end up loving them like I do and will keep going back for more.
