Saying Goodbye to 2018

Well, I guess that’s a wrap for 2018! I really cant believe another year has come and gone. I’ve been reluctantly realizing that as I get older, the quicker time seems to pass. Which is sort of scary when I sit down and think about it, but it makes me eager to fill my days with more stuff that makes me happy. 2018 was a good year and was definitely chock full of firsts, milestones and tons of happy memories to hold on to forever. I got my passport and my boyfriend and I took our first international trip to beautiful Ireland, which was one of the best experiences of my life thus far. I turned thirty (crazy!) and was able to celebrate with all of the people I love the most at a beautiful party my parents and boyfriend threw for me. My sweet godson turned one. Which is also crazy! I cannot believe it has been one year since that sweet little nugget has been in our lives and I was lucky enough to become his god mother this year. But to be honest, I really didn’t want to sit and write about all the good and bad things that happened this year and what I want to change about my life for this new year ahead. All I really want is just make sure I do more of the things that make my heart happy. Things I already do, but maybe should do more of. Oh and definitely make it priority to save more money…that’s something I don’t really do as often as I should be and need to do more of. Haha but I’m sure most people can relate to that, right? It’s good to sit and reflect and set goals for yourself but I also think it’s important to always have that mind set and not just do it for the sake of a new year starting.  But in the same breath I can see how a new year can be a good starting point for some people to start fresh, and that’s totally fine too!

Anyways! … For the last weekend of 2018, my boyfriend Alex and I decided to head to Upstate New York and get away into the mountains for a few days. We stayed in an Airbnb at a place called June Farms which was quite possibly my most favorite Airbnb we have ever stayed at. That’s saying a lot because we have stayed at our fair share of Airbnb’s. The grounds of the farm were stunning, there were horses, highland cows, chickens and my favorite above all…cats! Two of the most beautiful, fluffy, sweet kitties you ever did see. I’m 95% positive the entire weekend consisted of me holding them, talking to them like babies and taking 80 photos of them per minute, which I’m completely fine with. They made waking up every morning on that beautiful farm even more exciting than it already was.

We woke up to a light snow dusting one morning, which made the entire place even more magical. We drank our coffee and then naturally ran outside to gallivant with the animals and take some photos. To my delight the horses were up and out of the barn and they came right up next to the fence. I was so happy to meet all three of them and they were sweet enough to let me pet them. Both kitties were also up and rambunctious as ever. They were running around playing, climbing the chicken coop and trees. It was like a dream that I never wanted to wake up from. I would definitely recommend June Farms to anybody who asks and I am positive it must be lovely to stay there during any time of the year. Definitely would love to get back there for another stay in the Fall, *swoon*. Look for them on Airbnb and stay if you can! I believe they have more than one place to rent on the property but we stayed in the stone house, which is connected to the big red barn. It was the coziest most quaint relaxing little space and I wouldn’t change one thing about it.

Well, aside from obsessing over how perfect the farm was, we also ventured out a few times to explore the surrounding area. We headed into Albany one night for dinner which was conveniently about 10 minutes away. We did some off roading and put babe’s new Toyota Tacoma to the test (it did amazing btw). We chased some waterfalls in the area, browsed through an antique shop, visited Lake George and as always took lots of photos. It was a perfect weekend filled with all the things that I love doing, and things I will do more of in the new year and hopefully all the years to come. So, here’s to doing things that make your soul happy and keep a smile on your face, every day, every year, and always.

Happy New Year Everyone!
